
Coyotes Re-Assign Schlemko To San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO (March 2, 2010) - Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have re-assigned defenseman David Schlemko to their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage. In addition, the Rampage have re-assigned center Justin Bernhardt to the Las Vegas Wranglers (ECHL).
Schlemko, 22, has appeared in 17 games for the Coyotes this season, recording 1-4-5 and eight penalty minutes (PIM). He scored his first NHL goal for the Coyotes in a 3-2 win over the Dallas Stars on Nov. 14, 2009. Schlemko has also played in 36 games with San Antonio this season, collecting 3-12-15 and 18 PIM. Last year, he ranked 2nd among Rampage defensemen in scoring with 7-22-29 in 68 games. He also appeared in three games with the Coyotes and registered one assist for his first NHL point.
In 105 career AHL games, the 6-foot-1, 190-pound Schlemko has recorded 10-34-44 and 42 PIM. In 2007-08, he appeared in 58 games with the Arizona Sundogs of the Central Hockey League (CHL) and collected 10-29-39 and 24 PIM. Schlemko also registered 3-5-8 in 14 playoff games to help lead the Sundogs to the 2008 Ray Miron President's Cup Championship. A native of Edmonton, Alberta, Schlemko originally signed with the Coyotes as a free agent on July 19, 2007.
Bernhardt, 22, has recorded one goal and two assists in 14 games during three separate stints with San Antonio this season. The rookie has posted three goals and four assists in 17 games with the Wranglers in 2009-10, including three assists in his latest eight-game stint with Las Vegas. The Yorkton, Saskatchewan native accumulated 242 points (103 goals, 139 assists) in 307 career WHL games with Prince Albert, Kelowna, and Regina (2003-09).
The Rampage host the Houston Aeros tomorrow at 7 p.m. at the AT&T Center. Tickets for Wednesday's matchup start at just $10 and fans can get $1 hot dogs all night long.
