Brett Westgarth Returns To Worcester

WORCESTER, MA -Worcester Sharks General Manager Wayne Thomas announced today that the Sharks have acquired defenseman Brett Westgarth from the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in exchange for future considerations.

Westgarth played last season with the Worcester Sharks where he scored nine points (2 goals and 7 assists) while totaling 137 penalty minutes. The year prior, Westgarth skated for the Iowa Stars, playing in 37 games and totaling five points (two goals and three assists). The 6'2, 215 pound defenseman, a native of Amhertsburg, ON, is a Princeton University graduate who skated for the Tigers from 2002-2007 where he compiled four goals and 20 assists for 24 points.

Brett had eight points (3-5-8) and 68 penalty minutes this season in 46 games with the Sound Tigers before the trade.

On Tuesday, the Sharks visit Manitoba to battle the Moose for an 8:30 PM EST contest. It will be the first time Worcester will play in Canada.

On Wednesday, Worcester meets Manitoba again at 8:30 PM EST.
