San Antonio Rampage News Release
GLENDALE, ARIZONA -- Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have re-assigned defenseman Anders Eriksson and forward Joel Perrault to their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage, for conditioning assignments. In addition, forward Brett MacLean has been re-assigned to San Antonio.
Eriksson, 35, has recorded three assists in 12 games for the Coyotes this season. He has also registered 1-2-3 in eight games with San Antonio. Eriksson has appeared in 564 career NHL games with Detroit, Chicago, Florida, Toronto, Columbus, Calgary and the Coyotes, recording 22-152-174 and 242 penalty minutes (PIM) over parts of 12 NHL seasons. He was a member of the 1998 Stanley Cup Champion Detroit Red Wings and has registered six assists and 18 PIM in 36 career Stanley Cup Playoff games, including two games with Calgary during the 2009 Playoffs. Eriksson, who was originally selected by Detroit in the first round (22nd overall) of the 1993 NHL Entry Draft, signed with the Coyotes as a free agent on Dec. 21, 2009.
Perrault, 26, appeared in one game for the Coyotes this season before being placed on Injured Reserve on Feb. 9. He has also recorded 11-12-23 and 24 PIM in 27 games for San Antonio this season. Last year, he collected 2-1-3 in seven games with the Coyotes and 18-31-49 in 46 games with the Rampage to finish 3rd on the team in scoring. In 2007-08, Perrault finished with 7-10-17 and 48 PIM in 49 games for the Coyotes, setting career-highs in games played, goals, assists, points, penalty minutes, power play goals (3) and game-winning goals (2). Prior to his stint with the Coyotes that season, Perrault recorded 14-13-27 and 36 PIM in 28 games with San Antonio and was named to the 2008 AHL All-Star Game but was unable to play due to his recall. Perrault, who has recorded 11-14-25 and 68 PIM in 87 career NHL games with Phoenix and St. Louis, was originally drafted by Anaheim in the 5th round (137th overall) of the 2001 Entry Draft.
MacLean, 21, has registered 24-21-45 in 55 games with San Antonio this season to lead the team in both goals and points. His 24 goals also rank him T-7th in the AHL. In 2008-09, his first professional season, MacLean ranked 2nd on San Antonio in goals (21) and 5th in points (40) while appearing in 74 games. He also represented the Rampage at the 2009 AHL All-Star Game. During the 2007-08 campaign, MacLean led the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) with 61 goals in 61 games while playing for Oshawa. He finished with 61-58-119 and 42 PIM while also ranking 2nd in points (119) and 9th in assists (58). MacLean was drafted by the Coyotes in the second round (32nd overall) of the 2007 Entry Draft.
