Manitoba Moose News Release

The Manitoba Moose suffered their fourth shutout of the season after a 4-0 loss to the San Antonio Rampage on Friday night in front of 6,725 fans at the AT&T Centre. Goaltender Cory Schneider stopped 27 of 31 shots in his 18th loss of the season. The Moose and Rampage close-out their four-game regular season set on Saturday night.

The Rampage started off strong firing six shots on goaltender Cory Schneider before the Moose attempted one on Justin Pogge.

At 3:49, San Antonio translated their shot lead into a goal lead. With an across the net pass courtesy of former Moose Shaun Heshka, centre-man Kevin Porter beat Schneider over his extended right goal pad to open the scoring.

Following the goal, the home team received the first powerplay of the night when Guillaume Desbiens was penalized for interference at 4:32. The Rampage fired three shots on their opening man-advantage, but couldn't capitalize before play returned to even-strength.

At 6:42 the powerplay tables turned in favor of the Moose when Kevin Porter was locked up for hooking. At 8:15, Kyle Turris was called-out for goaltender interference giving the visitors a 27 second two-man advantage. Manitoba's powerplay unit battled to set up a play, but both penalties expired before the Moose could capitalize.

A defensive breakdown by Manitoba allowed Mikkel Boedker to escape on a breakaway at 14:31. Going one-on-one with Schneider, Boedker topped the puck over the net minder to put his club in a 2-0 lead.

With Sergei Shirokov serving a holding penalty near the midway point of the game, San Antonio was able to extend their lead. Kyle Turris earned his 15th goal of the season when he snapped the puck into the top right corner of Schneider's net for a 3-0 tally.

The Rampage continued their scoring ways early in the third period when a failed clearing attempt by the Moose allowed Gavin Morgan to smack the puck into the mesh for four-goal lead.

In the final minutes of the game the Moose were battling hard, trying to get on the board. Time ran out, however, and the Moose suffered a 4-0 shutout loss to the San Antonio Rampage.
