PORTLAND, ME- Brad Herauf broke a 2-2 tie midway through the third period and Chris Terry added an empty net goal to lead the Albany River Rats to a 4-2 victory over the Portland Pirates, Friday night at the Cumberland County Civic Center.

Drayson Bowman and Matthew Pistilli also scored for Albany and Jacob Micflikier chipped in a pair of assists, as the River Rats snapped Portland's eight-game home winning streak.

River Rats leading scorer Jerome Samson assisted on Herauf's game winner, driving to the net on a partial breakaway and drawing goalie Johnas Enroth to his knees before dishing a back-door feed at the last possible second. Albany goaltender Justin Peters made 26 saves in the contest, including 11 in the final period, to earn his 21st win of the season as the River Rats improved to 31-23-3-3.

Bowman scored the second period's only goal with just 42 seconds remaining in the frame to erase a 2-1 River Rats deficit. Forecheckers Matthew Pistilli and Jacob Micflikier forced a turnover behind the Pirates net and fed defenseman Bryan Rodney in the slot, who faked a shot and dished to Bowman for a one-time blast past Enroth.

Pistilli, who'd missed Albany's last 19 games with an injury, scored the game's first goal just 3:05 into his return to action, finishing a perfect two-on-none feed from Micflikier. Marc-Andre Gragnani responded for Portland at 5:24 of the opening frame during a 5-on-3 power play, and Paul Byron gave the Pirates their first lead at 11:45 with a quick strike from the left hash mark. Herauf thought he'd tied the game with a rebound score later in the first period, but the tally was waived off, as referee Terry Koharski had lost site of the puck.

Enroth stopped 22-of-25 shots faced in the game and took the loss, as the Pirates fell to 33-18-5-3 this season. Portland out-shot the River Rats 28-26 in the contest and went 1-for-4 on the power play, while Albany was 0-for-5 on the man-advantage.

Albany returns to action tomorrow night in Manchester with a 7:00 p.m. faceoff against the Monarchs.
