Syracuse Crunch News Release

Cleveland, OH - Trevor Frischmon scored his first goal since January 15 to break a 2-2 tie with seven and a half minutes left in regulation as the Syracuse Crunch hung on for their third straight win, a 3-2 victory over the Lake Erie Monsters tonight at Quicken Loans Arena.

Derek MacKenzie and Alexandre Picard each recorded a goal and an assist, while Tomas Kana dished out three helpers and Dan Taylor recorded his first win as a member of the Crunch and first AHL victory since February 24, 2009 by stopping 26 of 28 shots.

Josh Aspenlind put Lake Erie up 1-0 at the 11:16 mark of the first after jamming away at a loose puck in front of the net and jarring it past Taylor for his second goal of the season.

MacKenzie scored his fourth goal in six games to knot the score at 1-1 just 1:23 into the second stanza when he was left all alone in front of the cage and buried a one-time feed from Kana past Billy Sauer.

The Crunch took the lead 13 minutes later on the power play when Picard scored his type of goal by stuffing a rebound past Sauer from the front of the net after using his large frame to shield off a defender to put Syracuse up 2-1.

Lake Erie battled back to tie the score again when Justin Mercier re-directed a Brian Fahey slapper from the point just two minutes later.
