Portland Pirates News Release

Portland, Maine - The Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League announced this morning that their game tonight against the Albany River Rats will be played as scheduled, beginning with the opening face-off at 7 p.m. at the Cumberland County Civic Center.

The Cumberland County Civic Center has not been affected by the numerous power outages in the area and the Albany River Rats have already arrived in Portland in preparation for tonight's game.

The Pirates, 33-17-5-3, will be in search of a franchise-record ninth straight home victory tonight when they take on the River Rats (30-23-3-3). Their current eight-game home winning streak equals the franchise standard accomplished twice previously.

It's Good Shepherd Food Bank Night, Student Achiever Night, Gritty's Mug Club Night and Gary's House Awareness Night during the game. The Good Shepherd Food Bank will be accepting non-perishable food donations for local charities. In return for your generosity Pirates fans will receive a pair of tickets for a future home game. The game is also the third Student Achiever Night of the season. It's not too late to become a Student Achiever. Call 207-828-4665 ext. 307 for details. Make sure you stop by Gritty's in Portland, Freeport, or Lewiston and receive 2 FREE Pirates tickets and special discount tickets for any additional tickets purchased courtesy of the Portland Pirates and Gritty's.
