Coyotes Assign Zigomanis To San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO (January 30, 2008) - The Phoenix Coyotes today assigned center Mike Zigomanis to the San Antonio Rampage, the Coyotes' top affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).

Zigomanis, 27, has recorded three points (two goals, one assist) and six penalty minutes (PIM) in 32 games with the Coyotes this season.

In 293 career AHL contests, Zigomanis has compiled 232 points (93 goals, 139 assists) over parts of five seasons with Lowell and Peoria. He was named MVP of the 2004 AHL All-Star Classic while with Lowell, where he led the Lock Monsters in scoring (52 points) and assists (35) during the 2003-04 season.

Originally drafted by Carolina in the second round (46th overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, the Toronto, Ontario native signed with Phoenix as a free agent on July 21, 2006. Last year, in his first season with the Coyotes, he set career-highs in goals (14), assists (9), points (23), games played (75), PIM (46) and shots (142). The 6-foot-1, 200-pound Zigomanis has 33 points (19g, 14a) and 58 PIM in 166 career NHL games with Carolina, St. Louis and Phoenix.
