January 30, 2008 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Iowa Chops News Release
Des Moines, IA - The Iowa Stars will host the Boy Scouts of Iowa on Saturday, February 9. Over 13 troops along and their Scout Masters will spend the night at Wells Fargo Arena after the Iowa Stars take on the Peoria Rivermen next Saturday night.
Boy Scout troops from across 27 counties in Iowa will come to Wells Fargo Arena on Saturday afternoon, February 9th to spend the day... and night. Troops will set up their camps on the third level concourse beginning at 2:00 that afternoon before activities begin in the arena at 4:45.
Troops and their families are invited for locker room tours and will be able to try on the team's equipment. They will also have pucks and sticks available on the ice to test their slap shot and puck-handling skills. Boy Scouts of all ages will enjoy learning about the Zamboni and getting to ride during intermissions. An audio/video booth will be set up for troops to get their faces on the jumbotron and make announcement on the PA system.
The Boy Scouts of Iowa will have a presence throughout the game as they will present the American flag and National Anthem prior to the Iowa Stars taking on the Peoria Rivermen at 7:07 PM. Following the Stars game the team will join the troops on the concourse for an autograph session. Once the autographs are done, the boy scouts will watch a movie on the jumbotron in the arena before heading back up to camp for the night.
