Clinton, Iowa - The Kane County Cougars (58-44, 23-10) completed a three-game sweep of the Clinton LumberKings (54-48, 21-12) with a 5-3 win on Friday night at NelsonCorp Field. The victory extended the Cougars lead in the Western Division to two full games over the LumberKings.

For the third straight night, one big inning proved decisive for the Cougars on offense. In the second, singles by Blaze Alexander and Ryan January set the table for Tim Susnara's two-run single. Later in the inning, Tra Holmes added a two-RBI base hit to make it 4-0 Cougars.

Clinton cut into the Cougars lead in the bottom of the second when J.D. Osborne scored on a wild pitch, making the score 4-1. However, the Cougars solidified the lead in the top of the sixth on Geraldo Perdomo's double. Peyton Burdick belted a two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh to complete the scoring.

Jackson Goddard did not factor into the decision in his start for the Cougars. He allowed one run in 3.2 innings. Ryan Miller (4-5) earned the win with a scoreless inning of relief. Jose Cuas (2) earned his second save of the series with a hitless ninth inning. Clinton starter George Soriano (3-7) took the loss, allowing four runs over three innings.
