GENEVA, Ill. - The Kane County Cougars attempted to rally for a fourth straight comeback victory Sunday afternoon at Elfstrom Stadium, but this time they fell short in a 6-2 loss against the Clinton LumberKings. The Cougars had the tying run on deck when the game ended, and the series is even at one win apiece. A win Monday night would give the Cougars nine winning series out of their last 13.

The Cougars trailed, 6-0, entering the bottom of the ninth and facing reliever Daniel Cooper. With two outs and the bases empty, Anthony Aliotti, Rashun Dixon and Myrio Richard walked. Then Leonardo Gil poked a two-run single to make it 6-2. The LumberKings brought in Brandon Josselyn, who got Jason Christian to ground out to end the game with two runners on base. Josselyn notched his 11th save and confirmed the win for Jimmy Gillheeney (7-6).

Starter Dan Straily (6-6) took the loss. He gave up single runs in four different innings over 6 2/3 and yielded 10 hits, including at least one in each frame he worked. Josh Lansford allowed two runs -- one earned -- in 1 1/3 innings, and Max Peterson logged a scoreless inning.
