Quad Cities River Bandits News Release
DAVENPORT, Iowa - The Quad Cities River Bandits took another series with Beloit when they defeated the Snappers 12-6 on Sunday night. The River Bandits took an early 5-0 lead and never looked back. Beloit attempted to make a comeback plating five in the last three innings but the Bandits were able to send the Snappers attack astray.
Quad Cities scored 12 runs on 15 hits in an offensive showcase on Sunday evening. Matt Adams led the way for the Bandits going 3-for-5. He clubbed hit 11th and 12th home runs while scoring three runs and driving in three. Adams 12 home runs is good for the team lead. Four other Bandits added multi-hit games for Quad Cities. Ryde Rodriguez went 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI while C.J. Beatty slugged his first round-tripper of the season when he hit a grand slam in the seventh inning. Beatty also added a double in his two hit performance. Freddy Parejo and Luis Mateo each chipped in with a pair of base knocks. Parejo stroked a double and extended his hitting streak to 11 games, tying D'Marcus Ingram for the longest of any River Bandit this season.
Eric Fornataro (7-7) looked good in his seventh win of the year. He surrendered just one run on a solo homer by Reggie Williams in the sixth. Williams' home run was the only hit Fornataro allowed in six innings of work. He struck out seven in the win. Dean Kiekhefer (1) chalked up his first save of the season when he went three innings of relief for Quad Cities. Kiekhefer was charged with two runs on three hits in his time on the hill. B.J. Hermsen (4-5) was charged with his fifth loss of the season after he allowed seven runs, six earned on 11 hits. Hermsen fanned seven in the loss.
The River Bandits look to sweep the Snappers when they finish their series with a Monday night game at Modern Woodmen Park. Quad Cities will send right-hander Justin Smith (4-0) to the bump and he will face-off with fellow righty Kane Holbrooks (4-3). First pitch is slated for 7 p.m. at Modern Woodmen park with the gates opening at 5:30 p.m.
