Cougars Drop Game Two at Quad Cities

DAVENPORT, Iowa - The Kane County Cougars fell behind early Friday night in the Quad Cities and never fully recovered, losing, 4-2, against the River Bandits in front of 4,546 fans at Modern Woodmen Park. The Cougars fought back in the ninth with a run and had the bases loaded when David Thomas' deep drive to right field was caught to end the game.

Cougars starter Anthony Capra (2-5) suffered the defeat. He gave up single runs in the second and third and then two more in the sixth. The southpaw scattered six hits, walked two and fanned three over six frames. Jamie Richmond handled the next two innings with scoreless relief.

Down 4-0 entering the seventh, the Cougars tried to rally. Petey Paramore led off the seventh his his fourth homer of the season. Then in the ninth with two outs and nobody on base, the Cougars got even closer. Paramore and Steve Parker walked, and after Mike Spina was hit by a pitch, Dusty Napoleon walked to score Paramore for a 4-2 game. With the tying run at second, Thomas launched a high shot to right field that was grabbed on the warning track by Jon Edwards. Kevin Thomas (3-3) got the win, and Matt Frevert notched his first save.
