Beloit Sky Carp News Release
BELOIT, WI - The Beloit Snappers fell to the Kane County Cougars 10-1 on Saturday night behind a 14 hit attack from the Cougars. Kane County plated 7 runs in the first two innings of the game putting the Snappers behind and shifting all the momentum to the Cougars early.
After a two run first inning for Kane County, Beloit would get their first and only run in the second inning of the ballgame.
In the second, John Jones and JJ Schwarz would walk to start the inning to put runners on first and third. Then, two batters later, Max Schuemann would single up the middle to plate Jones and give the Snappers their first run of the game.
Unfortunately, that would conclude the scoring for Beloit, as the Snappers were only able to muster up 5 hits, ultimately falling 10-1.
For the Snappers on the mound, Michael Murray would get the start and it wasn't the picture- perfect start Murray was looking for. Murray was removed after one and a third innings, giving up 7 runs on 8 hits and will be tabbed with the loss on the evening.
Reid Birlingmair would finish out the game for the Snappers and was strong in relief. It would not be until the fifth inning before Kane County would get to Birlingmair, as Zach Almond homered to centerfield. That homer snapped Birlingmair's fourteen and two-third scoreless innings streak.
On the night for Birlingmair, he would throw six and two-third innings giving up just 3 runs on 6 hits, while punching out four.
The Beloit Snappers will be back in action tomorrow to continue this road trip in Kane County. Beloit will send Bryce Nightengale to the mound on Sunday Night against Matt Tabor for Kane County.
