NORMAL - The Normal CornBelters, presented by Illinois Corn Farmers, let an early lead slip away but surged back for an 8-6 win over the Rockford Aviators on Friday night at The Corn Crib. The CornBelters continue the home-stand with a 7 p.m. Saturday game against the Aviators at The Corn Crib.

The CornBelters struck first after drawing two walks to lead off the first inning with a two-out RBI single from Ryan Lashley. The Belters put the first two men aboard with hits in the second inning and increased their lead to 2-0 on a fielder's choice ground ball RBI by Mike Schwartz. The Aviators finally scored in the fourth when they loaded the bases with two outs on two singles and a walk and tallied a run on a passed ball to cut their deficit to 6-1. Another two out rally in the fifth with three straight hits cut the Belters lead to 6-2 on an RBI single by Jeff Kremer. Rockford tied the game at 6-6 with a four-run sixth inning off reliever Jose Trinidad by batting around and scoring on three hits, two walks, a hit batsman and an error.

The Belters regained the lead with a big sixth inning with the first five hitters reaching base and RBI singles from Keoni Manago and Aaron Dudley for an 8-6 lead.
