Norwich, CT - The Connecticut Tigers swept the Aberdeen IronBirds, taking the series finale 11-1 this afternoon at Dodd Stadium. Tad Gold had a triple and scored the lone run of the game for the IronBirds.

The Tigers scored single runs in each of the first two innings off of IronBirds' starter Matthew Grimes.

Down 2-0 in the third, Tad Gold roped a triple to right field and scored on a Randolph Gassaway sac fly to right, making it 2-1 Connecticut.

The Tigers scored three runs in the third and one run in the fifth to open up a 6-1 lead going to the sixth inning.

In the sixth, Connecticut exploded for five runs on three hits, three walks, and a hit batter. Nigel Nootbaar came on for the sixth inning and was unable to record an out, as all five runs in the inning were charged to him.

Matthew Grimes took the loss, falling to 1-3 on the season.

Aberdeen has off Monday and Tuesday for the All-Star Break. Austin Anderson, Jay Gonzalez, and David Hess will be in Brooklyn to represent the IronBirds Tuesday night at MCU Park.

The IronBirds open up a five game home stand with two games against the Hudson Valley Renegades Wednesday night, beginning at 7:05 p.m.
