JAMESTOWN, NY - The Jamestown Jammers are hitting on all cylinders at a critical point in the season. With 15 games remaining, the Jammers are currently on a five game winning streak, and are 8-2 in their last 10 games. However, they still sit four games behind the Brooklyn Cyclones for the New York-Penn League Wild Card spot. They are also 6.5 games behind the State College Spikes for the Pinckney division lead. Jamestown enters action today with an overall record of 29-31.

Today's opponent is the Batavia Muckdogs. Batavia has lost two in a row to the Jammers, are 4-6 in their last 10 games, and have an overall record of 28-34. The Muckdogs are six games back of Brooklyn in the Wild Card race, and 8.5 games back of the State College Spikes in the Pinckney division. First pitch today is scheduled for 4:05pm.

Probable Pitchers

LHP Ben Holmes (Batavia, 0-1, 3.16 ERA) vs. RHP Austin Coley (Jamestown, 0-1, 6.57 ERA)

Ben Holmes: Left-handed pitcher from Clackamas, Oregon. 9th round pick in the 2014 Draft out of Oregon State. Has made eight starts for Batavia in 2014. In 25 2/3 innings, Holmes has given up 31 hits, 12 runs (nine earned), has walked nine, struck out 20, has an 0-1 record, and an ERA of 3.16.

Austin Coley: Right-handed pitcher from Nashville, Tennessee. 8th round pick in 2014 out of the University of Belmont. Has made five starts so far for the Jammers this season. In 12 1/3 innings, Coley has given up 20 hits, nine runs (all earned), has walked four, struck out 10, has an 0-1 record, and an ERA of 6.57.

Players to Watch (Jamestown)

Elvis Escobar (Outfielder): After picking up three hits last night in Batavia, Escobar has now raised his average to .326 for the Jammers this season. In just 25 games, Escobar has 30 total hits, and is third on the Jammers in stolen bases, with six. In Escobar's last nine games, he is hitting .444, with 16 hits in 36 at-bats, and eight runs scored.

Jordan Luplow (Outfielder): Luplow picked up two hits last night in Batavia, including a two run home run in the third inning off Batavia starter, Jorgan Cavanerio. It was Luplow's fifth home run of the season, and he has driven in 23 runs on the year. Luplow is also second on the Jammers in stolen bases this season, with eight.

Michael Suchy (Outfielder): In his last nine games, Suchy is hitting .303, with 10 hits in 33 at-bats, and three runs driven in. On the season, Suchy is hitting .249 in 51 games, with 46 total hits, six doubles, five triples, and 13 RBIs.

Players to Watch (Batavia)

Mason Davis (Infielder): Davis currently leads the whole New York-Penn League in hitting, with a .339 batting average. He is also fourth in the league in hits, with 63. He has hit three home runs, 12 doubles, five triples, and has driven in 26 runs.

Wildert Pujols (Oufielder): In his last eight games, Pujols is hitting .346, with nine hits in 26 at-bats, and two runs scored. On the season, he is hitting .272 in 39 games, with 31 hits, eight doubles, and 12 runs driven in.

After today's game, both teams will have two days off for the All-Star break. The All-Star game will take place Tuesday, August 19th at MCU Park in Brooklyn. Outfielder Carl Anderson, infielder Kevin Ross, and relief pitcher Sam Street will represent the Jammers on the South team.

After the All-Star break, the Jammers and Muckdogs will square off at Diethrick Park again Wednesday (the 20th), and Thursday (the 21st). Both those games are scheduled to begin at 7:05pm.
