Long Beach, Calif. - Dennis Shiryaev's fourth goal of the season tied the game with just 12 seconds remaining in regulation and led to a 3-2 win for the Bakersfield Condors over the Long Beach Ice Dogs at the Long Beach Arena on Friday night.

The Condors and Ice Dogs skated to a scoreless first period. Both teams rang one off the goal post during the opening stanza, narrowly avoiding the first goal of the contest. Shots were 12-6 in favor of Long Beach, but the Condors countered with strong physical play from the start.

While the Condors were heavily outshooting Long Beach in the second frame, it was the Ice Dogs who took the lead. Even Cheverie banged in his fourth of the season point-blank on Yutaka Fukufuji, and just 30 seconds later Joe Cardarelli sprung from his own zone on a breakaway and slipped home the Dogs second of the game. Guy Dupuis trimmed the lead with a power play tally at 15:49 to make it 2-1 Long Beach after two periods.

Bakersfield fought to come back in the third, and finally did so with the goalie pulled for an extra attacker. Dennis Shiryaev found a rebound off the left post and slammed it home for the equalizer with just over 12 seconds remaining in regulation. After a scoreless overtime session the game continued into the shootout. Todd Alexander, the seventh Condors shooter of the shootout, ended up with the deciding tally and Bakersfield improved their league-best record to 12-1-2.

The Condors road trip continues with the first regular season ECHL game ever played in Canada. The Condors and Victoria Salmon Kings will battle three times in the coming week, beginning on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. PST. They return home on Saturday, December 11th against the Greenville Grrrowl. The first 2,000 kids 12 and under will receive a Condors backpack, courtesy of KGET-TV 17 and Subway. In addition, the Condors are teaming up with R&D Leather Furniture on the Stay Focused Ministries Toy Drive that night. Bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate and receive a voucher good for a $1 terrace ticket to that game.
