Aces stymied, 4-2

Alaska Aces News Release
ANCHORAGE, Alaska â A sloppy first period proved costly as the Alaska Aces fell behind 2-0 early and never drew even in an eventual 4-2 loss Friday night at Sullivan Arena in front of 4,922.
The Aces went more than 12 minutes without a shot on goal at one point managed just six over the entire first period, while the Wranglers took advantage of a turnover and grabbed a 1-0 lead on Dustin Johner's wrist shot from the left circle at 10:29. Five minutes later, Las Vegas pushed the margin to 2-0 as Patrik Nilson beat Alaska starter Peter Aubry with a backhander.
The Aces began to assert themselves in the second period, outshooting the Wranglers 16-3 (28-9 over the final 40 minutes) and climbing to within 2-1 on a perfect deflection by Chris Minard, who received credit for his 10th goal of the season at 2:26. A similar redirection by Las Vegas forward Jason Spence restored the two-goal lead at 3:55, but less than a minute later, Alaska was back within a single goal as Jordan Cameron finally registered his first goal of the year (after having 17 last season), from his knees, no less, on a loose rebound in front of Magliarditti.
But the Las Vegas goaltender clamped down for the remaining 35 minutes, and Johner's second of the night five minutes into the third period provided all the insurance Magliarditti would need. Each team had just one power play during the contest, which marked only the second loss for Aubry in his last nine starts.
The Aces (10-8-1) slide into a third-place tie with Wranglers (10-7-1) heading into tomorrow night's rematch at 7:15 p.m. All home games are broadcast on flagship station KFQD 750 AM and also made available on a pay-per-view basis at www.alaskaaces.com, courtesy of B2 Networks. Coverage begins 20 minutes prior to the opening face-off.
