Mississippi Sea Wolves News Release

PENSACOLA, Fla. – Pensacola's Jade Galbraith scored a goal and added two assists to propel the Pensacola Ice Pilots over the Mississippi Sea Wolves 4-1 at the Pensacola Civic Center.

"Our effort was there, but goals are hard to come by," Mississippi coach Bob Woods said. "We had the better quality scoring chances and deserved a better fate. We have to capitalize on our opportunities. I hope it begins tomorrow (Saturday) at home against Texas."

Pensacola (9-3-2, 20 points) hit stride at 17:03 of the first period. Ryan Vince deposited a rebound in front of the Sea Wolves net to count his fourth goal of the season. Aaron Phillips and Galbraith were awarded assists.

Mississippi (6-9-2, 14 points) had a golden opportunity on the power play in the first. The puck took a wicked bounce off the end boards onto the stick of Anthony Battaglia, who was foiled on a backhand by rookie goaltender Todd Ford.

Ice Pilots made it 2-0 at 1:53 of the second. Nick Lindberg snapped a shot past the stick of Jason Wolfe for his third tally of the campaign. Vince and Galbraith garnered assists, which was their second points of the evening.

Pensacola opened up a 3-0 lead, as Galbraith deked out Wolfe to slide home his second goal of the year and third point of the game at 5:52. Cam Keith and Aaron Phillips had the helpers.

Sea Wolves cut the margin to two with a shorthand goal. Jeff Hutchins faked an initial shot, Ford committed and Hutchins then slapped in his team-tying sixth goal of the season. Chris Cava picked up his first point of the year with the lone assist.

In the third, Tyler Beechey scored an unassisted empty-net goal, which was his fifth marker of the campaign.

Mississippi failed to convert on four power play chances, while Pensacola went 0-for-3. Ice Pilots outshot the Sea Wolves 32-28.
