
Condors Canned Food Drive Tonight

Bakersfield, Calif â The Bakersfield Condors get set to host the Alaska Aces at 7:00pm at Centennial Garden tonight. The annual "Help for the Homeless" canned food drive has been drawing donations throughout the last week, and contributing can give fans a ticket for just one dollar.
Fans can bring two non-perishable goods to the game this evening as well to receive their $1 ticket. The event is sponsored by KGEO AM 1230 and the Grocery Outlet. Doors open at 6:00pm. Bakersfield trails the Alaska Aces in the standings by 14 points, with two of their three games this week against their Pacific Division foes from the North.
The "Help for the Homeless" event is in its sixth season, and has pulled in over 5,300 pounds of food in its history. The record amount donated was a ton (2,000 pounds) during the 2000-2001 season. The Grocery Outlet, as well as the Condors Team Store across from Centennial Garden, has been accepting donations since early last week.
There will also be a special hockey treat during the first intermission tonight, as fans can check out the youth hockey players from the Bakersfield Ice Sports Center. After that, a group of adult hockey players from the BISC will take the ice as well. The Bakersfield Ice Sports Center adult hockey league got underway this month. For information about registration, contact the Center at 852-7400.
The Condors will host a pair of games this weekend as well, starting with a #29 Matchbox Car Giveaway on Friday night against Long Beach, sponsored by KGET-TV 17, KUZZ 107.9 and Pepsi. On Valentine's Day, the mascot Reggy will make his Bakersfield debut to entertain kids of all ages, appearing courtesy of Bright House Networks, the Spanish Radio Group and 24 Hour Fitness.
All games, home and away, can be heard on KGEO AM 1230, and online at www.bakersfieldcondors.com, with "Condors Countdown" starting 15 minutes prior to face off. The "Voice of the Condors" Kevin Bartl handles the play-by-play and on home games, Condors Legend Kevin Barrett handles the color commentary.
Individual seats are on sale now, and may be purchased through the Centennial Garden box office, which opens at 10:00am Monday through Saturday. Tickets may also be purchased by phone through Ticketmaster at 322-2525, online at www.ticketmaster.com or at any Ticketmaster location.
