Roanoke Express News Release

ROANOKE, VA – Roanoke Express Head Coach Tony MacAulay announced today that the team has activated Rick Kowalsky from the 7-Day injured reserve list, and placed David Silverstone on the 7-Day IR.

Kowalsky, the team captain, has been out of action since January 31 with a sore back. The 31-year-old native of Simcoe, Ont. returns to the lineup after missing the previous four games. Kowalsky currently leads the Express in scoring with 48 points (20g, 28a) and is second on the team with three game winning goals.

Silverstone was placed on the 7-Day IR while continuing to recover from the effects of a concussion suffered on January 31 at Toledo. "While David has shown improvement, we still feel that he needs more time off to recover." Said MacAulay. "When it comes to returning from a concussion, you need to make sure the player is absolutely 100%, and at this time, David isn't quite there yet."

The Express returns home on Tuesday, February 17, when it hosts the Greensboro Generals. The first 1,500 fans will receive a Miracle movie poster. The Express remains at home on Friday and Saturday Feb. 20 & 21 to take on the Gwinnett Gladiators. February 21 is pack the Roundhouse Night. The first 3,000 fans receive a Roanoke Express player card sheet.
