
Checkers goalie Scott Meyer is ECHL's "Saver of the Week"

(PRINCETON, N.J. Tuesday, February 10)- Charlotte goaltender Scott Meyer is the ITECH HOCKEY ECHL Saver of the Week for February 2-8.
Under contract to Hartford of the American Hockey League, Meyer was 3-0-0 with a shutout, a 0.66 goals against average and a .973 save percentage as Charlotte went 3-1-0 to improve to 24-19-6 and fifth place in the Southern Division.
It is the second time that Meyer has been named ITECH HOCKEY ECHL Saver of the Week, previously earning the honor for December 29, 2003 - January 4, 2004 after going 3-0-0 with a shutout, a 1.31 goals against average and a .980 save percentage.
After making 23 saves in a 6-1 win against division foe South Carolina on February 3, Meyer made 29 saves in a 3-0 win against Roanoke on February 7. He picked up his third victory of the week and his fourth consecutive win on February 8 making 20 saves in a 4-1 win against Augusta.
In 26 games for Charlotte in 2003-04, Meyer ranks 10th in the league with a 2.43 goals against average and is 12-9-2 with two shutouts and .923 save percentage.
In 2002-03, Meyer was 20-5-0 with a 2.61 goals against average and a .917 save percentage in 27 games with Charlotte and 1-5-1 with a 4.34 goals against average and a .845 save percentage in nine games with Hartford of the AHL. He began his professional career in 2001-02 going 14-10-5 with a 2.72 goals against average and a .897 save percentage in 30 games with Charlotte and 4-4-2 with a 2.14 goals against average and a .921 save percentage in 13 games with Hartford.

NEXT HOME GAME: The Checkers will play two games at home this week. Saturday night Charlotte will host the South Carolina Stingrays at Cricket Arena at 7:30 p.m. On Sunday afternoon the Checkers will entertain the Roanoke Express at 3:00 p.m.
