Atlanta Gladiators News Release

The ECHL announced today that Gladiators rookie forward Kevin Doell has been named the InGlasCo ECHL Player of the Week for February 2-8.

Under contract to the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League, Doell tallied eight points off of 3 goals and 5 assists to help the Gladiators go 4-0-0 during the week and move into third place in the ECHL Central Division.

In his first professional season, Doell scored a goal and had two assists, including assisting on the game winner, as Gwinnett won 5-3 at Florida on February 3, and he had two goals, including the game winner, in a 5-4 win against Charlotte on February 5. The 5-11 and 190-pound Doell assisted on the game-tying goal in a 5-4 shootout win against Greenville on February 6, and had two assists in the Gladiators 4-1 win at Greenville on February 7.

Doell currently holds the ECHL's longest current point scoring streak at 13 consecutive games. His streak began back on December 20th before being recalled to the Chicago Wolves for six games during January. Doell's 13 game point scoring streak ties the team record set by Mike Vigilante from October 29th through November 27th.

The rookie out of the University of Denver attended the Atlanta Thrashers training camp prior to being assigned to the Gladiators through Chicago this season. Doell joins two time winner Michael Garnett as an ECHL top performer of the week.
