
Gladiators Win 5th Straight

Chris Durno tied a team high four points with a goal and three assists to help the Gladiators knock off the Florida Everblades 5-3 on Tuesday night at the Arena at Gwinnett Center.
Jim Jackson gave the Gladiators a 1-0 lead as he ripped a slapshot past Florida netminder Rob Zepp from the high slot. Chris Durno and Troy Milam added assists on the power play goal at 14:39 of the opening period.
Durno gave the Gladiators a 2-0 lead wtih 3:07 remaining in the period as he picked up a rebound along the goal line and flipped the puck over Zepp for the goal. Kris Goodjohn added an assist on the Gladiators second power play goal of the game.
The Gladiators took a 3-0 lead on Kris Goodjohn's 13th goal of the season. Chris Durno added his third point of the night as the fed Goodjohn on a 2-on-1 break at 8:58 of the second period.
Blue Bennefield pushed the Gladiators lead to 4-0 when he jammed a loose puck in the slot past Zepp with 4:17 left in the second period. Durno added an assist on the goal to tie the team high for points in a contest wtih four.
Florida got on the board before the end of the second period as Paul Esdale slipped past a Gladiators defenseman and beat Gladiators goaltender Trevor Prior to the short side. Jared Newman added an assist on the goal at 17:31 of the period.
Florida cut into the Gladiators lead 3:10 into the third period on Brian McCullough's power play goal. McCullough took a centering feed from Carl Mallett in the slot while Chad LaRose also picked up an assist on the goal.
Chad LaRose cut the Gladiators lead to one goal at 12:10 of the third period but Florida could get no closer. Carl Mallett added the assist on the power play goal.
Cam Brown iced the contest with an empy net goal as he threw the puck down the ice from his knees deep in his own end. Brown tallied the unassisted goal with just 13 seconds left in the contest.
Trevor Prior made 40 saves for the Gladiaotrs as the netminder won his fourth straight start for the Gladiators. Kevin Doell's point scoring streak was halted at 13 games as the rookie forward did not register a point in the win.
