Bakersfield Condors News Release
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors, official ECHL affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks, announced today they have activated D Kevin Truelson from team suspension and that LW Mark Derlago has been recalled to the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League. The announcements were made by Head Coach Marty Raymond.
Truelson, 27, rejoins the Condors for the fourth consecutive season. Originally signed by Bakersfield in August, Truelson left the team for personal reasons during training camp and was subsequently placed on team suspension. Last season, the veteran defenseman tallied 46 points (13g, 33a) in 69 games to lead all Bakersfield blueliners. The Weymouth, Massachusetts, native has recorded at least 45 points in each of the last three campaigns. Truelson also represented the Condors as a starter in the 2008 ECHL All-Star Game, his second career all-star selection.
No defenseman has accumulated more points, goals or assists in Condors history than Truelson, who has 144 points (41g, 103a) in 189 games. His 41 goals are most among defensemen in Bakersfield's all-time history as well, and he only trails Condors Legend Glen Mears in points (168) and assists (140). Truelson also has skated in 27 playoff games for the Condors, second most in Bakersfield's history, holding records among Bakersfield defensemen with 14 points and five goals.
Derlago, 22, is currently the Condors leading scorer, with 20 points (9g-11a) in just 12 games. He recorded a hat trick and an assist in his 2008-09 debut on Oct. 29 at Ontario and was subsequently named the In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week. The Brandon, Manitoba, native is riding a seven-game point streak and sits in fourth place in the ECHL in scoring.
In 2007-08, Derlago led all ECHL rookies in goals (39) while setting Condors rookie records for goals and points (57). He was rewarded with a stint in the AHL with the Moose in March, where he had five points (2g-3a) in just four games.
Derlago joins G David McKee and D Andrew Thomas as Condors currently on recall to the AHL, with the latter both skating with the Ducks AHL affiliate in Iowa.
