Baker named ECHL Player of the Week

ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades are proud to announce that the ECHL has named forward Kevin Baker the In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week for Nov. 17-23.

It is the second time that he has received the league honor having won on Nov. 7, 2006.

Baker finished off this past week's action with six points in two games to help Florida extend its winning streak to eight games and move into first place in the South Division.

He scored the game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory at Augusta on Friday and then had a career-high five points, including registering his fourth career hat-trick in a 12-0 win at Augusta on Saturday.

Baker leads the Everblades and the ECHL with seven power-play goals while his 12 goals and 23 points in 14 games are tops on the team and third in the league.

The 29 year old had 56 points (29g-27a) in 44 regular season games and seven points (5-2a) in nine Kelly Cup Playoff games for Texas in 2007-08 after beginning the season in Germany where he had 16 points (8g-8a) in 23 games for Schwenningen.

He was selected as a starter for the for the 2007 Rbk Hockey ECHL All-Star Game and was named First Team All-ECHL in 2006-07 after finishing tied for fifth in the league with 81 points (36g-45a) in 62 games.

The Everblades return to action on Friday, November 28 when they travel to Reading to take on the Royals from the Sovereign Center at 7:05 p.m.! The Everblades' next home game is Friday, December 12 when they host the South Carolina Stingrays at 7:30 p.m.
