Checkers Add Defenseman Deeth From Chiefs

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - General manager and head coach of the Charlotte Checkers Derek Wilkinson announced today that the team has received defenseman Brian Deeth from the Johnstown Chiefs which completes the trade for Wes Clark made last week.

Deeth, 5-feet-11, 185 pounds, played out his collegiate career with Northeastern University scoring five goals and eight assists for 13 points in 84 games adding 110 penalty minutes. Deeth completed his first full season of pro hockey with the Chiefs last season where he compiled six goals and 23 assists for 29 points in 69 games with 68 penalty minutes. Deeth started the season with Johnstown playing in five games this year scoring one goal and eight penalty minutes.

The Checkers are playing their 16th season of play as a member of the ECHL. The next home game takes place on Sunday, Nov. 30 against the Augusta Lynx at 4 P.M. start. In the team's 15-year history, the Checkers have made the playoffs 11 times including four consecutive playoff appearances to date.
