Bakersfield Condors News Release
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors, official ECHL affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks, today acquired D Chris Brooks from the Utah Grizzlies in exchange for future considerations. The deal was announced by Condors Head Coach Marty Raymond. Additionally, D Eric Regan has been reassigned by Anaheim to San Antonio of the American Hockey League.
Brooks, 27, is in his fourth professional campaign, and has 1g-1a with 10 penalty minutes in 10 games, and his +4 rating is second among all Grizzlies defensemen. Last season, the New York, NY, native suited up for three different teams - Augusta, Mississippi and Utah - in the ECHL, recording 2g-10a-12pts and 107 penalty minutes in 68 games. The 6-3, 220-pound blueliner played three seasons at Yale (2003-06) prior to turning pro.
WHAT MARTY SAYS:
"We need some help on the blueline, ASAP. Losing John de Gray (reassigned to Rochester earlier this week) and Eric Regan has left us short on defense, and I wanted to get a big man who plays defensive hockey, and Chris gives us that."
Regan, 21, was recently named to the National Conference All-Star Team, and is among ECHL defensemen scoring leaders with 19 points (t-5th), nine goals (t-2nd), five power play goals (t-1st) and four game-winning goals (t-3rd). He joins G Justin Pogge, C MacGregor Sharp and D Stu Bickel, each former Condors this season, with the Rampage.
