
Cincinnati Cyclones Sending Pierce And Smith To ECHL All-Star Game

CINCINNATI, Ohio -The Cincinnati Cyclones, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators, learned this afternoon that they will have two individuals representing the team and the American Conference at the 2010 ECHL All-Star Game presented by Reebok on Tuesday, January 22 at Ontario, California.
Rookies Matt Pierce (forward) and Jeremy Smith (goaltender) will be making their first trips to the All-Star Game, marking the first time in club history that a pair of players will represent the team in the mid-season contest.
Pierce, 25, leads the club in goal scoring (14) and is fourth on the squad in points (23). Matt, who played collegiately at Mercyhurst last season, ranks second among first-year players in goals and tenth among newcomers in points.
Smith, 20, has turned in an 8-6-1 record with a 2.65 goals against average- sixth-best in the ECHL and second among all rookies. Jeremy, the second round draft choice (#54 overall) in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft by the Nashville Predators, had a shutout in his pro debut- a 2-0 blanking at Johnstown on October 17.
In other news, defenseman Jason Jozsa has been recalled by the Milwaukee Admirals (AHL). He becomes the second Cyclones player in as many days to be promoted to the American Hockey League.
The Cyclones are on the road tonight with a New Year's Eve (Thursday, Dec. 31) clash at Kalamazoo at 7:30pm. Saturday (Jan. 2), the club is at Johnstown for a 7:05pm tilt. Both games will be carried on the team's website: www.cycloneshockey.com.
