
Comets Can't Overcome Second Period Deficit Against Rocket

Utica, N.Y. - The Utica Comets fell to the Laval Rocket 5-2 Friday night at the Adirondack Bank Center.
The first period went scoreless as Thatcher Demko stopped six shots he faced and Rocket netminder Michael McNiven made 14 saves.
Chris Terry scored the game's first goal three minutes into the second period. Adam Cracknell and Tom Parisi were credited with the assists. Jordan Boucher extended the lead to 2-0 four and a half minutes later. Daniel Audette and Michael McCarron had the assists. Terry made it 3-0 with 5:44 remaining in the middle frame. Brett Lernout and Michael McNiven collected the assists.
Guillaume Brisebois got the Comets on the board three minutes into the third period with a blast from the point. Patrick Wiercioch and Tony Cameranesi tallied the assists. Cole Cassels brought the Comets to within one with 3:33 to go in the third period. Dylan Blujus collected the assist. Jordan Boucher regained Laval's two-goal lead 11 seconds later. Seconds later, Daniel Audette scored the empty-net goal to secure the win.
Demko finished with 23 saves and his record falls to 19-9-6. McNiven stopped 25 shots. His record improves to 6-9-1. The Comets power play went 0-2, while the penalty did not allow a goal in three attempts.
The Comets are back in action tomorrow night as they host the Springfield Thunderbirds. Puck drop at the Adirondack Bank Center is at 7:30 p.m. Fans are encouraged to utilize the ticket exchange website, StubHub!. The game can be heard on 94.9 KROCK and viewed on AHL Live.
