Montgomery Biscuits News Release

HOOVER, Ala. - Three Biscuits (61-63) pitchers combined to two-hit the Birmingham Barons (61-63), and the offense responded by producing the largest shutout win of the season, 11-0, Friday at Regions Park.

Alex Colome (3-2) gave up two flare singles over 6.2 innings to get the win, striking out four and walking three. Sergio Espinosa went 1.1 hitless and Paul Phillips dealt a perfect ninth to finish things.

A seven-run fifth keyed the Biscuits on a night where Birmingham pitching walked 11. The Biscuits had just two hits in the inning - one of which was a bases-clearing double from Henry Wrigley - but took advantage of three walks, a hit batsman, and two errors in the frame.

Nevin Griffith (5-8) walked six and allowed eight runs (only five earned) on six hits over 4.2 in the defeat.

John Matulia and Greg Sexton both had two hits to lead the offense. Kyeong Kang drove in two with a hit and two walks.

The Biscuits will send Nick Barnese to the mound in the series rubber match against lefty Justin Edwards on Saturday with first pitch set for 6:30.
