Springfield Falcons News Release
Springfield, Mass. - The Springfield Falcons announced Friday that Columbia Gas of Massachusetts will sponsor the team's Stick to Reading community program throughout the 2013-14 season. The program targets young children at schools throughout the greater-Springfield area, promoting the importance of reading at an early age.
"Columbia Gas of Massachusetts is thrilled to continue to support the Falcons by partnering in the Stick to Reading program," Andrea Luppi, the company's Manager of Communications and Community Relations, said Friday. "This innovative program aligns itself with our commitment to provide educational opportunities to hundreds of children throughout the greater-Springfield community."
Stick to Reading involves face-to-face player and staff visits, reading sessions, informational handouts and more. The Falcons introduced the program over the summer, revamping its community involvement with three focused initiatives (Stick to Reading, Play it Forward and Teamwork) as well as the inception of the Springfield Falcons Charitable Foundation.
"We are so pleased to announce this partnership with Columbia Gas of Massachusetts," Falcons' Vice President Sarah Pompea said. "Encouraging children to read at an early age is an important part of our educational support for this community, and it is wonderful to have other local companies contribute to our efforts."
