Pirates Sign Gilbert Brulé to PTO

Saco, Maine - Phoenix Coyotes Assistant General Manager and Portland Pirates General Manager Brad Treliving announced today that the Portland Pirates have signed forward Gilbert Brulé to a Professional Tryout Contract (PTO). In addition, Treliving announced that forward Keven Veilleux has been assigned to the Gwinnett Gladiators of the ECHL.

Brulé, a veteran of 296 NHL games, was invited to Coyotes training camp prior to the season. A 5'11", 186 lbs. native of Edmonton, Alberta, Brulé spent last season with the ZSC Lions of the Swiss National League A after stops with the Columbus Blue Jackets, Edmonton Oilers, and Phoenix Coyotes. Brulé was a key component of the Coyotes 2011 Pacific Division Championship, scoring 5 goals and adding 9 assists in 33 games and chipping in 2 goals and an assist in the playoffs. In addition to his time in the NHL, Brulé has spent time with Syracuse, Springfield, and Oklahoma City in the AHL. For his NHL career, Brulé has 43 goals and 52 assists.

The Pirates will face off with division rival Providence Bruins for the first time at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee on Saturday, October 12th. Puck drop is set for 7 pm.
