Colorado Eagles News Release
LOVELAND, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles stormed the Stockton Thunder, 4-1, on Military Appreciation Night at the Budweiser Events Center. Veteran forward Riley Nelson scored the game winning goal with the assistance of veteran forward Kevin Ulanski who surpassed former Eagle Ryan Tobler on the Eagles All-Time scoring list for 3rd place. Ulanski has now notched 417 points in 316 games with the Eagles.
Colorado forward Alex Hudson started the game off on the right foot as he scored an unassisted goal to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead less than two minutes into the first. Just over a minute later, Nelson scored his first goal of the season to put the Eagles up 2-0. Forward Greg Gardner hopped on the Eagles scoring train to put Colorado up, 3-0 to end the first period.
The second period was scoreless and so continued the battle of the goalies. Stockton netminder Parker Milner stopped 26 of Colorado's 30 shots while Eagles goalie Marc Cheverie stopped 21 of the Thunder's 22 shots throughout the game.
Forward Trent Daavettila put the Eagles up, 4-0, 14:43 into the third frame. The Thunder would not go scoreless as defenseman Mike Dalhuisen scored with only 12 seconds left in the third to put Stockton on the board and complete the contest at 4-1.
Thanks to season ticket holders and corporate partners, thousands of active military members, veterans and their families were able to attend tonight's game, free of charge. In addition, the Eagles presented the UDT Seals Foundation with a check for $10,000 to help the families of fallen Navy Seals.
