The Jackals are facing the Solar Bears tonight for the first of two meetings this season only matchup at Amway Center. This is only Elmira's second ever trip to Orlando since the Solar Bears joined the ECHL last year. The Jackals dropped a 5-3 decision here last November after they entered the third leading 2-0. The Jackals are the first non-South Division team to appear on Orlando's schedule. The Solar Bears have scheduled against South Division powers Florida (1-3-0) and South Carolina (0-1-0), but feasted on struggling Gwinnette (2-0-1). Even though this is just the fourth ever meeting between Orlando and Elmira, the Jackals are familiar with Orlando coach Vince Williams who piloted the Trenton Titans for the prior two seasons.
Entering this week the Jackals were tied with four other clubs for the lightest schedule in the ECHL with five games played. That will change in a hurry this week with the Jackals playing the first of back-to-back-to-back sets of three games in three days. The month of November is Elmira's busiest of the season with 14 games packed into 30 days. The slate will be slightly less arduous after the Jackals finish their current five game road trip. From November 15 to 30 the Jackals play six of eight games at First Arena, and the two road games are division tilts in Reading and Wheeling.
Mark your calendars! The Jackals return home on November 15, 2013 to take on the Wheeling Nailers at 7:05 p.m. The Jackals will be giving away free poster schedules to the fans in attendance. Don't forget that groups of 10 or more who book in advance receive discounts off the box office price and preferred seating based on availability. Call 607-734-7825 to get your group outing booked.
