
Coley Earns 15th Win in 7-3 Victory over Augusta

(Charleston, W.V. - August 25, 2015) - The West Virginia Power opened up the four-game series against Augusta with a 7-3 win on Tuesday night at Lake Olmstead Stadium in Augusta. Austin Coley earned his league and franchise-best 15th win of the season as the Power lowered its magic number to five with the victory.
The Power provided Coley with two runs of support in the first inning. With the bases loaded, Chase Simpson singled to right, which scored Elvis Escobar and gave West Virginia a 1-0 lead. Moments later, Tyler Filliben tapped a ball off the glove of the Augusta pitcher resulting in Connor Joe scoring after the infield single.
West Virginia added four more runs in the fourth inning. After Jerrick Suiter reached on an infield single, he scored when Filliben laced an RBI double down the line. Filliben advanced to third when Taylor Gushue reached on an error and he scored on an RBI double from Tito Polo off the wall in left. After the Power loaded the bases, Joe drew a bases loaded walk and Suchy brought home the final run of the inning after he reached on a fielding error.
After Augusta scored two runs in the fifth, the Power responded with a run in the sixth to make it a 7-2 game. After Suiter drew a leadoff walk Simpson pulled a double to the track in right to extend West Virginia's lead.
Coley (15-6) earned the win with five innings of work while Pat Young (8-4) suffered the loss. Coley allowed two runs (one earned) on seven hits with three walks and three strikeouts.
West Virginia (40-17, 77-49) continues the four-game series at Augusta (28-28, 63-62) with game two on Wednesday night. LHP Stephen Tarpley (10-3, 2.57) vs. RHP Chris Johnson (1-3, 5.66). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. while pregame on Charleston's ESPN Radio 104.5 FM and 1490, the Power website, and the TuneIn Radio App is slated for 6:45 p.m.
West Virginia returns home for the final homestand of the regular season on Saturday, August 29 for a five-game series against the Lexington Legends. The homestand begins with a Bill Mazeroski bobblehead courtesy of AARP and 58 WCHS and it will be given to the first 1,000 fans through the gates of Appalachian Power Park. After Saturday's game, fans can take in the final fireworks show of the 2015 regular season.
