Orlando Solar Bears News Release
Orlando, FL - The Orlando Solar Bears, proud affiliate of the NHL's Minnesota Wild and Toronto Maple Leafs and AHL's Iowa Wild and Toronto Marlies, announced today that G Cody Reichard's diving glove save in the third period of Saturday 5-4 overtime win over the Gwinnett Gladiators was featured as the number 2 play on ESPN's Top 10 Plays.
Reichard's save came with a little over three minutes left in the third period to keep Orlando within one goal of the Gladiators. F Mickey Lang would then tie the game with 9.8 seconds left in the contest to force overtime, and then netted the game-winning goal 1:10 into overtime to secure the victory for the Solar Bears.
Orlando fell behind in the first period on an early Gladiators goal, but F Taylor Matson answered before the end of the frame as the teams went into the second tied at 1-1. The Gladiators jumped to a 3-1 lead with two goals in under three minutes in the second period before the Solar Bears battled back. First, D Cody Wild knocked a puck out of midair to bring Orlando back to within one and then Matson slammed home his second goal of the game with 1:30 to go in the second stanza to tie the game at 3-3. Gwinnett grabbed a third period lead at 9:49 to go up 4-3 before the heroics from Reichard and Lang secured the win for Orlando.
