Cleveland Monsters News Release
CLEVELAND - The Cleveland Monsters will continue their 2018 'Grow the Game' Summer Street Hockey Series with a stop at the Nautica Entertainment Complex on Saturday, August 4th. Partnering with Jacobs Entertainment, Inc. and the Nautica Entertainment Complex for the second-consecutive year, the Monsters will host a full day of street hockey clinics for children in Northeast Ohio to introduce them to the sport of hockey. In addition to the clinics, attendees can look forward to festival activities and fun!
"We are more than thrilled to return to the Nautica Entertainment Complex for our second-annual 'Grow the Game' clinic," said Monsters VP of Marketing & Communications Pam Frasco on Tuesday. "Last year's event at Nautica and this year's Summer Street Hockey Series have helped so many young Clevelanders discover the game of hockey and we look forward to another great opportunity to 'Grow the Game' in Northeast Ohio on August 4th."
For a $5 donation per registrant to the Monsters Community Fund, each participant will be taught the fundamentals of shooting, passing, and stick-handling and will conclude each session with a simulated game. Instruction will be led by Cleveland Monsters hockey staff members including NHL Stanley Cup Champion and Monsters Sr. Director of Hockey Affairs/Team Services Jock Callander, current Monsters goaltender Brad Thiessen, and former Monsters Player and Ohio Hockey Project owner Russ Sinkewich. Children ages 5-14 are welcome to participate.
All registered participants will receive a Monsters 'Grow the Game' T-shirt and all equipment will be provided to participants free-of- charge. Courtesy of Nautica, all participants will also receive a complimentary ticket to the Greater Cleveland Aquarium and complimentary ticket for the Nautica Queen. Clinic time slots and space are limited and will be filled on a first-come-first-served basis.
Attendees can expect appearances from the Monsters Entertainment Teams, including Sully and the Monsters Hockey Girls, as well as music, face painting, and games. A special box lunch including a grilled hotdog, chips, drink, and a piece of fruit will be available for $5 for all attendees.
Participants are encouraged to register ahead of time, as time slots will be filled on a first-come-first-served basis. Clinics will last approximately 90 minutes.
