Chukars beat the Ogden Raptors

IDAHO FALLS, ID- To move their season-high winning streak to four games, the Idaho Falls Chukars beat the Ogden Raptors in 11 innings by a score of 9-8 on Saturday night at Lindquist Field.

Following their historic comeback the previous night and a 7 1/2 hour bus ride to Ogden that featured bus breakdowns and flat tires, the Chukars did not show any ill effects from the hectic schedule.

In the second inning, a RBI double by catcher Nick Dini and a two-run homer from third basemenLogan Nottebrok to give the Chukars a 3-0 lead. The roundtripper for Nottebrook was the first of his professional career.

After giving a run back in the bottom half of the second and third, the Chukars went back up by three in the top of the fourth on a two-run blast from outfielder Brawlun Gomez. The second year Chukar now has four homers and 15 runs batted in against against Ogden this year in 11 games.

As the two teams traded runs in the fourth, Idaho Falls got a sacrifice fly from outfielder Amalani Fukofuka and a RBI single by first basemen Josh Banuelos in the fifth inning to make the score 7-4.

Unfortunately for the Chukars, the two teams trading runs reached new heights in the seventh inning. With lefty Cruz Guevara in the game for Idaho Falls, Ogden scored four runs off the reliever who had an 11.1 inning scoreless streak coming into the game to take their first lead of the game.

Trailing 8-7, the Chukars came back in the top half of the eighth and tied the game up with a run-scoring groundout off the bat of outfielder Cody Jones.

For the second time this season between the two games, the game went to eleven innings at Lindquist Field. In the top half of the frame, a leadoff triple from Nottebrok led to a RBI single from infielderJeckson Flores to put the Chukars up for good.

To finish off the victory, lefty Tripp Davis tossed the second of two scoreless frames to improve to 3-2 on the year. Aside from Davis, the Chukars also got two innings of scoreless work from Brian Bayliss.

With the victory, the Chukars winning streak is now at a season-high four games. They sit atop the Pioneer League South, leading Ogden by three games and the Grand Junction Rockies by two games.

To finish off a quick two-game set against Ogden down at Lindquist Field on Sunday, Idaho Falls will send RHP Derek Gordon to the hill while the Raptors will counter with a pitcher to be determined. First pitch is at 4:00 PM.
