Reading Royals News Release
Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League and the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League, today announced that forward Chris Blight has been loaned to the Albany River Rats of the AHL. In a separate transaction, the Monarchs assigned defenseman Patrik Hersley to Reading.
This marks the third trip of the season to the AHL for Blight, who has scored a team leading twenty goals and assisted on fifteen others (thirty-five points) in thirty-five games with the Royals this year. Blight, who played eleven games with the AHL's Manitoba Moose (0g-2a=2pts) in late December through mid-January and played one game for the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins on January 23 (0g-0a=0pts), is currently riding a three game goal scoring streak (4g) and a five game point streak (5g-1a=6pts) for Reading. This marks the second trip this season to Reading for Hersley, who scored three goals (including a dramatic overtime game winner on December 26 against Elmira) and assisted on twelve others (fifteen points) in sixteen games with the Royals (from November 16 through December 28, 2007). Hersley has registered four assists in twenty-four games for the Monarchs in the AHL this season.
The Royals return to action tonight (Friday, February 15; 7:05 pm), when the Dayton Bombers visit the Sovereign Center. Tonight, the Royals host "Guys Night," and the first 1500 men 21 years of age and older will receive a hockey puck beer bottle opener courtesy of Labatt Blue and All Star Distributing. The game night broadcast on Friday will begin at 6:35 pm with the pre-game warm-up show on ESPN Radio 1240 am in Ephrata, as well as on the internet through the Royals' website, www.royalshockey.com. Streaming video is available on a pay per view basis through the B2 Networks.
