Chihuahuas Take Series with 12-2 Win

Albuquerque, NM - El Paso scored 10 unanswered runs to begin the game and rolled to a 12-2 victory over the Isotopes Thursday night at Isotopes Park.

The Chihuahuas took the three-game set with back-to-back triumphs.

In the box, Albuquerque managed just three hits and one double on the night. Bret Boswell registered the lone double. Dom Nuñez and Ryan Vilade each drove in a run. Scott Schebler tallied the other two hits.

After a clean first inning, Ashton Goudeau relented a leadoff triple in the second to Eguy Rosario, who scored a batter later on an RBI groundout by Taylor Kohlwey.

El Paso added another run in the second on a C.J. Abrams RBI single before plating five runs in the fourth inning. A two-run fifth and one-run sixth gave the Chihuahuas a 10-0 lead.

The Isotopes got on the board in the sixth. Boswell doubled to left to lead off the frame and advanced to third on a groundout. A batter later, Dom Nuñez drove him in with an RBI groundout. El Paso then scored two more in the eighth to take a 12-1 lead. Albuquerque scored their final run of the night in the home half of the eighth on Vilade's RBI groundout.

Goudeau was charged with his first loss of the year after allowing seven runs on nine hits and two homers over 4.0 innings.

Topes Scope: - The Isotopes allowed double-digit runs for the 14th time this season. They are 0-14 in such contests.

-Albuquerque surrendered double-digit runs in back-to-back contests for the third time this year. (April 9-10 at Oklahoma City and April 29-30 vs. Sacramento).

-El Paso recorded 17 hits, the third-most allowed by the Isotopes this season. It is also the eighth time they've relented 15-plus hits.

-The Chihuahuas tallied eight doubles, the most surrendered this season and tied for the most since at least 2015.

- Esteury Ruiz blasted two homers tonight, the second-straight night and 10th time this season Isotope pitching has allowed a player to tally two dingers in a game.

-In the fourth inning, the Chihuahuas plated five runs-the eighth time the Isotopes allowed five runs in a frame (last: June 1 at Sugar Land

-Tonight was the fourth time the Isotopes lost by double-digit runs this season.

-The Isotopes' three-combined hits tied for the fewest hits in a game this season (4x, last: May 10 vs. Sugar Land).

-Carlos Perez extended his team-best on-base streak to 23 games with a walk in the fourth frame.

-Ryan Vilade's 20-game on-base streak was snapped after a 0-for-4 night.

-Sean Bouchard extended his on-base streak to 20 games with a walk in the fourth frame.

-Wynton Bernard's nine-game hit-streak came to an end after a 0-for-4 night.

-Scott Schbeler registered his ninth multi-hit effort of the year.

-The seven runs Goudeau are a season-high and was one short of his career-high.

-In the third inning, Goudeau stepped off for the third disengagement of the at-bat, resulting in the first balk called on an Isotopes pitcher for more than two disengagements without an out made or new batter. On Deck: The Isotopes and Chihuahuas will travel to El Paso to begin a three-game set Thursday night. Albuquerque is scheduled to send Zach Neal to the mound while the Chihuahuas are expected to start Grant Gavin.
