Spokane Chiefs News Release
SPOKANE, Wash. - The Spokane Chiefs picked up one point but came out on the losing end of a hard-fought contest Saturday night as the Tri-City Americans needed a shootout to secure the victory.
The Chiefs dominated the shots on net throughout the first two periods, leading 30-to-15 headed into the second intermission with the score still tied at 0-0. Spokane was unable to capitalize on any of their six power play opportunities in the game, but managed to get on the board at 5:04 into the third period when Jaret Anderson-Dolan checked in with the game's first score. The Americans answered minutes later with a goal by Parker AuCoin to tie things up with a power play goal at 8:06 that eventually forced overtime. Box Score
Anderson-Dolan also secured Spokane's only successful shootout, but Tri-City's Sasha Mutala--the Americans' fifth shooter--converted the game-winner to give the Americans the 2-1 victory.
AuCoin's goal was the only score allowed by Chiefs' goaltender Reece Klassen as he finished the night 32-for-33 in the net and earned the game's second star. Beck Warm was 39-for-40 for the Americans, and was named first star. Tri-City finished the night 1-for-2 on the power play.
