Johnstown Chiefs News Release

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. - The Johnstown Chiefs, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Colorado Avalanche and Columbus Blue Jackets, and the AHL's Lake Erie Monsters and Syracuse Crunch, announced today that The Community Foundation of the Alleghenies has joined as a sponsor for the 2008-09 season.

The Community Foundation and the Chiefs have partnered to create the Johnstown Hockey Supporters Fund. Through the Community Foundation, individuals or businesses can give donations that will go towards the purchase of Chiefs tickets.

"We're excited and pleased to partner with the Chiefs who are an important part of our community. We share the vision of the organization and expect the Chiefs to remain in Johnstown for years to come. We encourage other organizations and members of the business community to support the team," said Community Foundation executive director Mike Kane.

Gifts to the Johnstown Hockey Supporters Fund can go towards the purchase of tickets for children to see a game, perhaps for the first time ever. You can pick a specific group, or allow the Community Foundation to use its knowledge of our area to ensure your gift is used well. Gifts to the fund can also be tied to promoting a nonprofit organization of your choosing. As an example, the Community Foundation can work with anyone who supports a specific nonprofit organization, and members of that organization, to organize and develop a non-profit night at a Chiefs game that would allow the nonprofit to distribute information and promote their organization.
