Last Week - The Wheeling Nailers continued their best start in the history of the organization taking 4 out of a possible 6 standings points going 1-0-2 at the Mississippi Sea Wolves in a 3 game weekend set. At 6-0-4 the Nailers are the only team in the ECHL without a regulation loss now at the one month mark into the season.
Wheeling opened the weekend with a 5-4 shootout loss the Sea wolves. Nick Johnson scored 2 goals to lead the Nailers.
Saturday night was one of the Nailers most complete performances of the year as they dominated the Sea wolves in a 4-1 victory led by Rob Sirianni's two lamp-lighters and Curtis Darling stopped 28 of 29 shots for the win.
Sunday night say the Nailers leading 3-1 with less than 2 minutes to go but Mississippi scored a pair of goals in the final 2 minutes and then won the game in overtime. Mathieu Melanson scored all 3 of the late Sea wolves goals for the dramatic hat trick. Rob Sirianni had his second consecutive multi-goal game to put the finishing touches on a fine 4 goal weekend.

Nailers Notes - The Nailers 10 game unbeaten streak is the best start in the history of the organization. One month into the regular season they are the only team without a regulation loss. All other ECHL teams have at least 2 losses in regulation.
The Nailers dominate several statistical categories including all 3 top spots for individual scoring. Tommy Goebel (19), Rob Sirianni (18) and Aaron Clarke (17) are 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the ECHL.
Nick Johnson's 10 goals ties him for the league lead with Alaska's Josh Soares. Rob Sirianni is tied for 3rd in the league with 8 goals.
The Nailers are the highest scoring team in the league at nearly 5 goals per game.
Wheeling's power play is tops in the league clicking at over 25%.
The Nailers have more wins in ECHL history than any other organization with 694. They are aiming to become the first ECHL team in history to reach the 700 win milestone.
On the Air - All games are broadcast on the Wheeling Nailers hockey radio network including The Mix 97.3fm and streamed live on wheelingnailers.com and video on the B2 networks. The voice of the Nailers, Bob Rotruck, provides all the play-by-play action with former Wheeling Thunderbird great Brock Woods providing color commentary on home games. The broadcasts begin with the USA Steak Buffet Countdown to Faceoff 30 minutes before the game-start including the Main Street Bank Coach's Conversation with Greg Puhalski.
Friday night features the return of the Riesbeck's Food Market's post-game show LIVE from the club featuring a recap of the game and live interviews with Nailers players. Come join us at the club downstairs at WesBanco Arena for all the fun.
