Aces Host Teddy Bear Toss November 14,15 And 16

The Alaska Aces and "Toys For Tots" will be hosting a Teddy Bear Toss during the Friday, Saturday & Sunday games against Utah. After the Aces score their first goal of the night, fans will be able to throw new, plush, unwrapped toys on the ice, which then will be collected by the U.S. Marines.
Other unwrapped toys can be dropped into one of the Marines "Toys For Tots" donation boxes at the entrance doors to Sullivan Arena. All toys collected will be given to local families within the Anchorage area.
In 2007, the "Toys for Tots" program delivered toys to over 8,680 children in Anchorage alone. The program also supplied over 1,200 toys to the Valley and 15-20 remote villages within Alaska. Local churches and organizations are also recipients of "Toys for Tots."
The Alaska Aces are just one of approximately 100 businesses that donate or contribute their time and efforts in making the "Toy for Tots" program a successful one.
Collecting and delivering the toys is accomplished by only a handful of Marines. Eleven active duty staff and a reserve company of four Marines make this distribution happen every year.
"Our primary goal for Alaska Toys for Tots is to deliver, through a shiny new toy during the Holiday Season, a message of hope to the most needy Alaskans; a community based outreach that will motivate our children to grow into responsible, productive, patriotic citizens and future community leaders," stated a spokesperson for the Toys for Tots program.
The "Toys For Tots" Marines will be taking toy donations at the doors again when the Aces play the Utah Grizzles, Friday & Saturday, November 14 & 15 at 7:15 PM and Sunday November 16th at 5:05 PM.
