Rays Earn Six Points Last Week

The Stingrays played three games this week as they looked to catch up to the leaders in the South Division.

First up was Bobby Goepfert's debut as a Stingray as the team faced the Charlotte Checkers on Thursday night. Goepfert stopped all 26 shots and Trent Campbell, Paul McIlveen, and Steve Pinizzotto each got their first goal of the season as the Rays won 3-0.

Saturday, the Stingrays traveled to Charlotte for a re-match. With Goepfert in net again, Trent Campbell scored five minutes into the third period to give the Rays their first lead of the night as they won 3-2.

On Sunday, Michal Neuvirth was in goal as the Stingrays faced the Augusta Lynx in Augusta. Michael Dubuc scored twice, for his sixth and seventh goals of the season, and Neuvirth stopped all 25 shots as the Rays recorded their second shut-out of the weekend.

ECHL Leaders

The Stingrays are 5th in the American Conference and 2nd in the South Division.

Michael Dubuc is 13th in the ECHL with 12 points and 3rd among rookies. His seven goals ties for second among rookies, his 37 shots is fifth and his plus-7 rating is fourth.

Tom Maxwell leads the league in shooting percentage with three goals in six shots.

Bobby Goepfert leads the ECHL with a 1.00 goals-against average. Michal Neuvirth is third with 1.50 goals-against average. Goepfert's .965 save percentage also leads the league. Both Goepfert and Neuvirth have a shut-out this season, ranking two and three respectively.

Nate Kiser's 35 penalty minutes and two major penalties rank his second among defensemen in both categories.

The Rays power play is 9th in the league at 19.1%. The team is 13th on the penalty kill with 81.1%.

The Stingrays travel to Gwinnett to play the Gladiators for the first time this season. Overall, the Rays are 14-20-4 against the Gladiators, but went 4-3 last year and defeated them three games to two in the Division Semifinals of the 2008 Kelly Cup Playoffs.
