Nailers Extend Record Start To 6-0-4

Going 1-0-2 at Mississippi, Wheeling improved to 6-0-4 and remains atop the ECHL with 16 points and a winning percentage of .800.

It is the best start in history for the Nailers and the best start in the league since Louisiana was 9-0-1 after the first 10 games in 2001-02. Louisiana improved to 12-0-2 before losing in regulation at Mobile on Nov. 22. Louisiana then won a league record 14 consecutive games to improve to 26-1-2 on its way to a 56-12-4 record, setting league records for wins and points (116).

Trenton won its first eight games of 2001-02 and was 8-2-0 after 10 games and went on to finish 46-16-10 and second in the league with 102 points.

Wheeling, which won its first three games of the season for the first time ever, is 694-579-111 overall and trying to become the first team in league history to win 700 games. The Nailers were 7-2-1 after their first 10 games in 2003-04 and went on to set team records for points (106), wins (51), home wins (28), road wins (23) and fewest goals allowed (188) and Pat Bingham, who is now an assistant coach for Bridgeport in the American Hockey League, was named ECHL Coach of the Year.

Wheeling returns home to host Dayton on Friday and play at Elmira on Saturday. The Nailers are 4-0-2 at home and 2-0-2 on the road.

The Nailers lead the league with 48 goals and 4.80 goals per game. Wheeling is also first in the league with 16 power-play goals and a power-play percentage of 25.4 (16-for-63)

Rookie Tommy Goebel (7g-12a), Rob Sirianni (8g-10a) and Aaron Clarke (7g-10a) are first, second and third in the ECHL in scoring while rookie Nick Johnson (10g-5a) is tied for fifth. Goebel (+13), Clarke (+11) and Sirianni (+10) are also the top three in the league in plus-minus rating while Mitch Ganzak (+9) is tied for fourth and Elgin Reid (+8) is tied for seventh.

Johnson leads the league with five power-play goals while his 10 goals are first among league rookies and tied for the overall lead.

Goebel leads the league in assists with 12 and is second among rookies with seven goals while Sirianni is tied for third in the league with eight goals and 10 assists and Clarke is tied for third with 10 assists.

Goebel and Johnson lead ECHL rookies in scoring while Jordan Morrison (4g-8a) is tied for third and Bryan Ewing (2g-8a) is tied for seventh. Goebel leads league rookies with 12 assists while Ewing and Morrison are tied for second with eight assists each.



National Conference - Pacific Division

Bakersfield Condors
* Bakersfield will play the next five games and 14 of their next 18 games on the road.
* Rookie Matt Pope has eight points (5g-3a) and two multi-goal games in six games.
* Condors host Las Vegas on Monday and play at Ontario on Friday, at Fresno on Saturday and at Stockton on Sunday.

Fresno Falcons
* Matt Stefanishion leads the Falcons with seven goals and nine points in eight games.
* Rookie Michael Ouzas is 2-0-0 with an overtime win and a goals-against average of 1.95 in his last two starts.
* Falcons play at Idaho on Tuesday and Wednesday and host Stockton on Friday and Bakersfield on Saturday.

Las Vegas Wranglers
* Las Vegas is 3-1-0 and has outscored its opponents 16-6 in the last four games.
* Rookie J.D. Watt scored his first professional hat trick in 6-2 win against Phoenix on Friday.
* Wranglers play at Bakersfield on Monday and host Idaho on Friday and Saturday.

Ontario Reign
* Reign are third in the ECHL in attendance with 6,259 per game.
* Rookie Tim Kraus has a three-game point streak (2g-1a) and is tied for third on team with eight points (2g-6a).
* Reign host Stockton on Wednesday and Saturday and Bakersfield on Friday.

Stockton Thunder
* Stockton had its first sellout of the year and the 13th in team history with 9,737 on Saturday.
* Rookie Andrew Perugini is 2-0-0 with a save percentage of .926 in his first two professional games.
* Thunder play at Ontario on Wednesday and Saturday and at Fresno on Friday while hosting Bakersfield on Sunday.

National Conference - West Division

Alaska Aces
* Aces are 4-0-1 in their last five games and 7-2-1 overall.
* Rookie Jean-Phillipe Lamoureux is 4-1-0 with a shutout and a goals-against average of 0.98 in his last five starts.
* Aces host Utah on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Idaho Steelheads
* Idaho is 1-2-1 at home this season (.375) and 109-52-23 (.655) all-time at Qwest Arena.
* Rejean Beauchemin is 1-2-2 with a goals-against average of 2.14.
* Steelheads host Fresno on Tuesday and Wednesday and play at Las Vegas on Friday and Saturday.

Phoenix RoadRunners
* RoadRunners are 4-0-2 in one-goal games and 5-1-0 when scoring the first goal.
* Kimbi Daniels leads Phoenix with three goals and 11 points in 11 games.
* RoadRunners play at Victoria on Friday and Saturday.

Utah Grizzlies
* Grizzlies have played six consecutive one-goal games, going 4-2-0 to improve to 5-2-0 overall in one-goal contests.
* James Sanford has a six-game scoring streak (2g-7a).
* Grizzlies play at Alaska on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Victoria Salmon Kings
* Salmon Kings are 2-0-1 in their last three games.
* Sean D. O'Connor has three goals in his last three games.
* Salmon Kings host Phoenix on Friday and Saturday.

American Conference - North Division

Cincinnati Cyclones
* Cyclones are 4-0-2 in their last six games and 4-3-3 overall.
* Crowd of 6,596 on Saturday was the sixth-largest in team history.
* Cyclones play at Johnstown on Wednesday, at Elmira on Friday and at Reading on Sunday.

Dayton Bombers
* Bombers scored three power-play goals in 2:12 of third period in 5-2 win at Reading on Sunday.
* Rookie Nino Musitelli scored his first professional hat trick in 5-1 win at Trenton on Saturday.
* Bombers play at Wheeling on Friday and host Johnstown on Saturday at Hobart Arena and Sunday at the Nutter Center.

Elmira Jackals
* Jackals are 2-0 in overtime and 2-0 in shootouts.
* Tyler Donati is second in the league with 11 assists and tied for fifth with 15 points in nine games.
* Jackals host Reading on Tuesday, Cincinnati on Friday and Wheeling on Saturday.

Johnstown Chiefs
* Rookie Ryan Del Monte has a three-game point streak (1g-5a) and a three-game assist streak (5a).
* Kris Mayotte is 3-0-0 with a goals-against average of 1.96 in his first three starts.
* Chiefs host Cincinnati on Wednesday and Trenton on Friday before traveling to Dayton on Saturday and Sunday.

Reading Royals
* Reading leads the ECHL with six shorthand goals.
* Last four Royals to take a penalty shot have scored including Brock Hooton on Sunday against Dayton.

Trenton Devils

Augusta Lynx

* Lynx play at Florida on Friday and Saturday.

Charlotte Checkers
* Checkers play eight of their next 10 games at home after opening with eight of their first 10 games on the road.
* Jeff Jakaitis is 4-0-1 with a shutout and a goals-against average of 2.18.
* Checkers host South Carolina on Thursday and Mississippi on Saturday and play at Gwinnett on Friday.

Florida Everblades
* Florida is 28-for-30 (93.3 percent) on the penalty kill the last four games and ranks third in the league with 88.6 percent (62-for-70).
* Kevin Baker has nine points (5g-4a) in his last four games and leads the team with six goals and 12 points.
* Everblades host Augusta on Friday and Saturday.

Gwinnett Gladiators
* Gladiators had season-high 51 shots on Nov. 3 against Florida and lead the league with 41.0 shots per game.
* Gwinnett plays the next five games and seven of their next eight games at home.
* Gladiators host Charlotte on Friday and South Carolina on Saturday.

Mississippi Sea Wolves
* Sea Wolves are third in the ECHL in scoring with 3.73 goals per game.
* Mathieu Melanson has seven points (4g-3a) in his last four games.
* Sea Wolves play at Charlotte on Saturday.

South Carolina Stingrays
* Stingrays lead the ECHL with a goals-against average of 2.25.
* Michal Neuvirth registered first professional shutout making 25 saves in 4-0 win at Augusta on Sunday.
* Stingrays play at Charlotte on Thursday and at Gwinnett on Saturday.
