Chicago Wolves Fall in Overtime

November 24, 2018 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Chicago Wolves News Release

Chicago Wolves defenseman Griffin Reinhart forced extra time with his goal late in the third period, but the Grand Rapids Griffins took the game, 4-3, with a goal 2:36 into overtime on Saturday night at Allstate Arena.

Forwards Tyler Wong and Keegan Kolesar staked the Wolves (10-5-2-1) to a 2-0 lead after one period, but the Griffins (9-7-0-2) tied it up with two goals late in the second period before taking the lead with a goal midway through the third.

Wong opened the scoring at 9:55 of the first period with his second goal of the season, tipping a shot from Reinhart at the point after the defenseman faked to open up a lane to the net.

Kolesar doubled the lead 16:40 into the game, redirecting a high shot from defenseman Jake Bischoff down and between goaltender Harri Sateri's blocker and the post.

Reinhart sent the game into extra time with his short-handed goal at the 14:22 mark of the third period. Forward T.J. Tynan and Kolesar raced down the ice on a two-on-one break when Tynan set up Reinhart perfectly to send the puck past Sateri to knot the game at three apiece.

Grand Rapids defenseman Filip Hronek scored the game-winner at 2:36 of overtime as he led a 2-on-1 charge.

Sateri (6-5-0) made 27 saves in the win while Wolves goaltender Oscar Dansk (6-3-2) stopped 27 of 31 shots on the night.

The Wolves return to Allstate Arena at 3 p.m. Sunday for an Illinois Lottery Cup clash with the Rockford IceHogs. It's a Family Sunday, which means the first 1,000 kids through the doors receive a free Disney On Ice admission ticket. To find the Wolves' best ticket specials, visit ChicagoWolves.com.
