Stockton Heat News Release

San Diego, CA. - In a night when the Stockton Heat only led for 12 seconds, they steal a win behind three third period goals to shock the San Diego Gulls 6-5. Curtis Lazar scored shorthanded for the Heat with 12 seconds to play to give Stockton their second goal in the final four minutes. San Diego got out to an early lead and stayed ahead throughout the game. San Diego led 2-1 after 20 minutes, but extended their lead to two, following an early second period power play goal from Corey Tropp. The Heat would storm back to score a pair of their own with goals from Matthew Phillips and Dalton Prout. Later in the third period, rookie Sam Steel scored two goals just 30 seconds apart to get the lead back to two. Heat bench boss, Cail MacLean pulled Gillies in favor of Schneider and once again Schneider would give the Heat a win in relief. He stopped all 14 shots in the final 26-plus minutes. Glenn Gawdin and Kerby Rychel each would score in the third period to get the game all squared up once again. Dalton Prout would pick up his third minor penalty of the night with just 50 second to play. Curtis Lazar, one of Stockton's top penalty killers, didn't seem to mind as he scored just 38 seconds later to win it for the Heat. This comeback win marks the third time this season Stockton has come back from down two goals late to win.

The Heat head back home on Saturday ahead of Sunday's game with the San Diego Gulls. Sunday's game starts a stretch of eight straight games in Northern California, including seven home games.
